Sudan’s Abdallah Hamdock reinstated as Prime Minister

Official sources from the government have said that the political parties have reached an agreement with the Sudanese military. As per the terms of the agreement the Sudanese army has agreed to release the government officials & politicians arrested during the coup since October 25.

 Also in accordance with the terms of the agreement, Abdallah Hamdock has been reinstated as the Prime Minister of the country. Both the United Nations & the United States of America have played a major role in finalizing such an important agreement that might have critical implications on the peace & stability of the region. 

Initially, Abdallah Hamdock had stepped down from his post due to an effective military coup that had been carried out last month. But in a series of recent development, the Ummah party, which is considered the largest political party in all of Sudan has openly stated that it has not signed any such agreement with the military.

Thereby giving rise to new doubts and debates over the agreement and its terms.

 During his address, Abdallah Hamdock said that he had made this decision to further stop the violence and that he will be forming a technocratic transitional government under the free rein given by the military. Abdallah also announced that elections would still be held before July 2023.

Reinstating Abdallah Hamdock as Prime Minister is definitely considered as a positive sign proving that the United States’ diplomatic efforts have paid some results but greater efforts from the United States in the field of youth and grassroot sections are welcomed which can be major contributors for maintaining peace and stability in Sudan.
