Who shouldn’t take the covid-19 vaccine?

India is battling the coronavirus, just like the entire world, The covid-19 pandemic has not only wretched the life of the people, but also the world economy and has set the medical sector up for a major challenge.

The race to find a cure is so formidable that the world renowned institutes and many biopharmaceutical companies around the world are developing Corona vaccines. Oxford, Astrazeneca, Bharat Biotech, Pfizer and many others have been in the race.

The first vaccine registered vaccine in the world was “Sputnik V” by Russia.

The Ministry of Health released a permit for post-registration vaccine trials on volunteers older than 60 on 16 November and a permit for testing on 3,000 volunteers aged 18 to 60 on 18 November. although internationally it was considered as not very effective.

Covid-19 Vaccination has been permitted for people above 18.  Individuals with a history of immediate or delayed anaphylaxis or allergic reaction to a vaccine or injectable therapies, pharmaceuticals, food products should avoid vaccination.

India started its dry run on January 3rd vaccinating frontline and health care workers. Since then three people who were vaccinated died due to cardiovascular problems the families held the government responsible for the death while the ministry denied the allegations.

Henceforth both the Serum Institute and Bharat Biotech have listed the side effects and risks of taking the covid-19 vaccine.

  •  No jabs should be given to people with a history of anaphylactic or allergic reactions.
  • Vaccination should be avoided for individuals with a history of immediate or delayed-onset anaphylaxis or allergic reaction to the vaccine or injectable therapy, pharmaceutical products, or food objects.
  • The vaccine should not be given to pregnant women or those who are not aware of their pregnancy and lactating mothers.
  •  There should be no vaccine for individuals with active symptoms of coronavirus infection.
  • Those who are all ill and hospitalized for any illness should not have coronary virus shots.

Who should avoid Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin

 With two ‘Made in India vaccines-Covishield and Covaxin-against coronavirus disease, which has been claimed by more than 1,50,000 individuals in India, India has launched the world’s largest vaccination campaign.

Covishield is produced by the Serum Institute of India (SII) which is a oxford-astrazenaca developed vaccine and Covaxin is produced by Bharat Biotech in partnership with ICMR.

Vaccine-makers Bharat Biotech warned in a fact-sheet on Monday, two days after India started mass covid-19 vaccinations against the deadly virus, that those who have weaker immunity or are on a drug, it affects their immune system and covaxin must not be taken by people with allergies.

Bharat Biotech published a fact sheet on the process involved and who should avoid taking the vaccine.

  • It also claimed that covaxin should also be avoided by pregnant and breastfeeding mothers.
  • Those who received another Covid-19 vaccine should also not be given the Bharat Biotech medicine, the company said.
  • Recipients are also warned of severe allergic reactions that may include difficulty breathing, swelling of the face and throat, rapid heartbeat, rash throughout the body, dizziness, and weakness.

Who should avoid the Serum Institute’s Covishield

Vaccines have been licensed for limited use in people 18 years of age and older in emergencies.

There are two different doses of 0.5 ml each make up the Covishield vaccine course. Between four and six weeks after the first dose, the second dose should be administered.

 It also warned that everybody might not be cured by the vaccine.

  • If there is a fever you do not should not get the serum.
  • Whether you have a bleeding disorder or are thinning the blood better avoid the vaccine.
  • Whether you are immunocompromised or are on a drug affecting the immune system.
  • When you breastfeed avoid the vaccine Had a serious allergic reaction to this vaccine after a previous dose
  •  Had a severe allergic reaction to some of the vaccine’s components.

The side Effect of the Vaccine

Fainting also can occur after the medical procedure or after the covid-19 vaccination.

Bear in mind that the most common side effects mean that the immunity shield is building inside your body to protect you against the disease.
