The recent surge in the number of covid cases in the United States is the cumulative result of the rampant transmission rate of the new variant of covid that is Omicron. Thereby making Omicron the new dominant strain and variant of covid in the United States.
As of now, America is fighting the battle with Omicron with daily caseload reportings that indicate a steady rise in the number of new covid cases. When compared to other covid variants a very large number of the general public across the United States are suffering from Covid’s new and deadly variant Omicron.
As per the recent statistics, out of the total corona-positive cases in the United States that were registered last week, 73 percent were contributed from the Omicron variant.
The recent data suggests that the prevalence and spread of the omicron variant has been exponential even in an advanced economy like America where the share of the omicron variant in new infections has increased exponentially by nearly six times in the last week itself.
With more than 90 percent of the newly registered cases in the New York area being results of the omicron variant. As per the official data, a total of 6,50,000 new omicron cases were reported last week.
In a new finding it was found that about 99.5 percent of the cases registered by the end of November were completely from Delta variants, said Dr. Rochelle Valensky, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
But currently, that situation has been completely changed and rapidly occupied by the Omicron variant, it has therefore become a menace and a difficult challenge to the American health system.

As an effect of which the government is planning to provide 50 crore kits free of cost to the needy people that will be able to take rapid tests at home.
