India Vs England 2021: Joe Root the highlight of 1st Test Day

Chennai: England was impressed with their consistent performance in the first Test match against Team India.

By the end of the first day, England were 263 for three in 89.3 overs.

Joe Root, the captain of the touring team that won the toss, chose to bat. Burns and Sibley opened the innings for England.

Captain Joe Root was at the crease with 128 runs. Dominic Sibley, the opener, who played consistently was bowled out for 87 by Bumrah, 13 runs short of his century. Root and Sibley had a 200-run partnership off 390 balls.

While for captain Joe Root it is the 100th test. On the other hand, this is the first Test at home for Team India star bowler Jaspreet Bumrah.

Joe Root’s 20th century in his 100th Test match was the highlight of the first day’s play. Besides Root became the first player to score a century in the 100th Test. England’s innings swelled further after the tea break.

Team India suffered a setback just before the start of the first Test against England. All-rounder Akshar Patel was ruled out of the squad due to knee pain. He is currently under the supervision of BCCI doctors.

The lion’s share of the first day’s game was dominated by the England team.

The Indian bowlers struggled throughout the day but managed to take only three wickets. Of the Indian bowlers, Bumrah took two and Ashwin one.

England lost by two wickets in the first Test against Team India. Opener Burns was out for 63, while Daniel Lawrence, who came into the crease in one down, came back as a duck out.

However, the loss of two wickets in successive overs seemed to be a setback for the touring team.

 Ashwin then takes out burns to the pavilion. Lawrence then returned to LBW in Bumrah bowling. This is Bumrah’s first Test wicket at home.

By the time the first wicket fell, a 63-run partnership had been established. Burns faced 60 balls and scored 33 runs. Having two boundaries. With the arrival of Ben Stokes and Archer, England became stronger.

While Team India was slow with a series to win over the Aussies, Joe Root’s army, who beat Sri Lanka, is also said to be in strong competition.
