WHO Issues Warning On The Third Covid-19 Wave Says Strong Likelihood Of Dangerous Variants

The covid-19 pandemic is becoming dangerous day by day. Every day, people hope that the virus would come under control, but it is undergoing a mutation and becoming more dangerous.

Considering the strong impact of the Second Wave in India. The government is asked to take necessary action to control the wave at the initial stage. The second wave was monstrous, taking thousands of deaths per day; millions of cases were reported every day. Hence experts have warned before the end of the second wave the threat the third wave could pose.

In this context, the World Health Organization (WHO) has made a key announcement regarding the Third Wave WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom warns that the third wave has just broken around the world.

Speaking on occasion, Tedros said, “Unfortunately, the world is now in the early stages of the Third Wave. The Delta Plus variant is present in 111 countries worldwide. It is a dangerous covid variant that spread rapidly around the world. If it is not dominant, we expect it to be in a few days.” he said

 The WHO committee added that this is not the stop because the covid-19 virus can mutate in four more variants in a couple of days. It is suggested that the spread of the delta variant should be curtailed through social awareness and effective public health measures. It is four weeks since the consistent increase in the number of positive cases and deaths worldwide.

Covid-19 cases and deaths have been declining since the vaccination process began in Europe and North America, but reports indicate that the situation is now reversing.

Tedros expressed concern that the virus was still evolving, resulting in more rapidly spreading variants. Tedros is also concerned about a resurgence of deaths that have been declining for ten weeks.

He also added that the covid Emergency Committee recognized the shocking inequality that exists in the world regarding the vaccination process that can save lives.

It has been ordered that 10% of the population of all countries be vaccinated by September.

However, he suggested that vaccines alone could not stop the pandemic and that countries should move forward with a favorable, sustainable approach.

He said that physical distance and wearing of a mask must be mandated, and health infrastructure must be provided. Tedros noted that many countries are successfully dodging the covid-19 wave with effective measures.
