United Nations Day is celebrated on October 24 every year. In addition, the importance of this day, how it was formed, etc., not only to bring to the path of remembrance but also to tell the future to celebrate this day together with all the countries solidly.

The United Nations was formally established on October 24, 1945. Two years later, in 1947, the United Nations General Assembly declared the United Nations Charter as the one that “shall be devoted to making known to the people of the world the aims and achievements of the United Nations and gaining their support for its work.”

In 1971, the organization passed United Nations Resolution 2782, which declared that United Nations Day should be observed internationally. The resolution proposed that all United Nations member countries observe October 24 as a public holiday as well.

The name ‘United Nations’ was used by former President of the United States Franklin D. Roosevelt.

There are six key divisions in the UN. They are mainly the General Assembly, the Security Council, the Economic and Social Council, the Trusteeship Council, the Secretariat at the UN Headquarters in New York, and the International Court of Justice in The Hague, the Netherlands.

At the time of the formation of the United Nations (UN), the UN had 51 member states. It currently has 193 member states.

The United Nations is an intergovernmental organization aimed at promoting friendly relations between countries with a vision of international peace and security.

The organization plays a key role as a coordinating body to bring all countries together towards enhancing international cooperation.

The United Nations Day: A Celebration Of Unity

UN Day is celebrated by all nations together as a symbol of unity in the General Assembly Hall of the Organization at its headquarters in New York. This year, however, UN Day was celebrated live by all countries with different pre-recorded performances. The theme of the event was “Building Back to Gather for Peace and Prosperity”, a permanent mission sponsored by the Republic of Korea on October 21.

Speaking on the occasion, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said: ’76 years ago the UN was unveiled as an optimistic outlook for the world to emerge from the shadow of catastrophic conflict. Across the country, women and men are taking steps to further advance that hope. Expo 2020 Dubai is celebrating United Nations Day on October 24 with various official events.
