Even the Indian Television Industry was not spared from the wrath of COVID 19, many popular Indian TV Serials went off due to this pandemic. The pandemic and the lockdown have taken a toll on our daily lives, the same has also affected the television world. Many popular TV serials have been called off abruptly due to the discontinuation of the shoot for current crises. This decision was taken considering the severe ongoing situation and has also been hard for the makers, actors, and people associated with these shows.

Popular Indian TV Serials Gone OFF Air Due To Pandemic

Beyhadh2

One of the highest TRP holding serial of Sony Beyhadh 2 with an amazing star cast of Jennifer Winget, Shivin Narang, and Ashish Chaudhary has been announced to go off-air due to the odd pandemic situation. The serial has a huge fan following. After the success of Beyhadh 1, the craze among the people made the makers start with a new season of Beyhadh again Jennifer Winget taking the lead as Maya. The final episode was telecasted on 31st March 2020. As the fans were waiting for the show to resume post lockdown, the announcement of the show going off-air came as a shock to them. Shivin the lead actor in one of his interviews shared, one fan was so angry that he threatened to commit suicide if the show ends. He requested all the fans to stay calm and understand the current unavoidable situation as the world is fighting a bigger battle now.

Naagin 4

Another popular serial starring Nia Sharma, Reshmi Desai, Vijayendra Kumaria with high TRP Naagin 4, has also been axed as a pandemic price. Ekta Kapoor announced the wrap up of the show with a thankful note to the actors and the fan who have been the constant support to the show. She also assured the fans they will come up with the powerful Naagin 5 project soon. To keep up with the constant fan base of the show Ekta Kapoor also announced there will be four finale episodes before the show wraps up.

Patiala Babes

This is another popular serial from sony channel starring Ashnoor Kaur, Saisha Bajaj, Aniruddh Dave, Raj Jain, and Paridhi Sharma. As the shoot was suspended for long due to the COVID situation, the makers decided to call it off. The last episode of this show was aired on 27th March.

Nazar 2

This was an interesting television show on star plus. The viewers have well appreciated the supernatural thriller starring Sheezan Mohammad and Shruti Sharma. There was much speculation on the run of this show but after the success of Nazar season 1, the producer decided to start with Nazar season 2 which was equally getting positive response from the viewers. But, as the shoot got halted for long due to the pandemic, the makers decide to call it off. Producer Gul Khan took to social media to announce the news of Nazar 2 going off-air. Actor Sheezan Mohammad also shared his sadness about the show getting aired off but this was quite expected as per the situation.

Ishaaron Ishaaron Mein

Ishaaron Ishaaron Mein was a popular show telecasted on Sony starring Mudit Nayar, Simran Pareenja, and Rishina Kandhari. Due to its unique storyline where a speech and hearing impaired young boy falls in love with a differently-abled girl grabbed the attention of viewers and gained its popularity. Despite its success, the show started in July 2019 could not complete a year and had to go off-air due to the pandemic situation. The last episode of the show was aired on 31st March 2020.

Dil Jaise Dhadke Dhadakne Do

Dil Jaise Dhadke Dhadakne Do was a promising newly launched TV show in Star Plus by famous filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt. The show started in February 2020 starring Hirva Trivedi, Javed Savaille, Rahil Azam, and Shruti Seth in significant roles. After a short duration of shoot from February 2020, the shooting went for an indefinite halt, so the makers decided not to move any further and pull this show off.

Meri Gudiya

Meri Gudiya another budding serial in Star Bharat met with the same misfortune. The show started in December 2019 starring Aalisha Panwar, Gaurav S Bajaj and Vineet Raina was growing its popularity due to its wondrous storyline portraying the love of a mother even after her death. Due to all the current crises, the maker decided to pull off the show even before the lockdown ended. The lead actor Aalisha Panwar stated, they were only able to shoot 50 episodes so far and was looking forward to continuing post lockdown. To her disappointment, the decision to pull off the show was done during the lockdown based upon the then situation. She stated though it is hard we need to understand and respect the decision of the makers.

Vidya

Another one shows from Colors, Vidya was added to the list recently. Vidya started in September 2019 by Viacom 18 staring Meera Deosthale, Namish Taneja, and Vaquar Shaikh in the lead roles. The show was rising its peak with time due to its unique plot where an illiterate army widow was offered the job of a school teacher in a small village. The story was about educating herself in the process of teaching. Mahesh Pandey the writer and producer of Vidya took to Instagram to announce the news of the television show, Vidya, going for closure due to the pandemic crisis. Though the producer was very disheartened with the channel’s decision as this was his first solo production but he consoled saying now, it is more important to battle hard with the pandemic. The experiences he gained from the 163 episodes of Vidya will always be special and would help him to continue further.

COVID Impact on Television World

COVID 19 pandemic has highly impacted the earning cycle and employment of millions of people from many sectors. The same has also been hard for the television world, not just the popular actors, the entire unit involved in the making of these shows are in an indefinite halt and waiting for the world to be back to normal. The television shows have entertained us tirelessly for decades now, we really hope everything gets normal soon and people get back on track and continue there wonderful job in the entertainment world.
