DGCA announces discount on domestic flight tickets

Cheaper flight tickets if you do not carry baggage

Ever since the airlines raised their fares to recover the financial loss caused by the covid-19 pandemic taking domestic flights has become super expensive.

However, there is a piece of great news for travelers. The Department General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) declared the good news of cheaper flight tickets without check-in bags.

It has announced that the flight ticket prices will soon be discounted for those traveling without luggage.

 This discount on flight tickets applies only to those traveling with cabin bags and without check-in luggage. The DGCA has released new guidelines.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Friday, February 26 issued orders to domestic airlines to put the new guidelines into effect.

Under current regulations, air travelers can carry up to 7 kg of cabin luggage and up to 15 kg of check-in luggage. Those who want to carry more luggage will be charged extra.

According to the latest rules, airlines will offer discounts on ticket prices for those who travel with only cabin bags and no more check-in bags.

In order to get these discounts. passengers have to disclose the weight of the bag they will be carrying with them at the time of booking the ticket.

According to the airline’s baggage policy, airlines allow passengers to avail of free baggage allowances as well as a Zero Baggage / No Check-in Baggage Price Scheme.

The DGCA said that “Passengers should be informed about the flight tickets price scheme at the time of booking the ticket. These must be printed on the ticket”.
